Quick How To
1. To read the rest of any post blurb click on the Post Title. If you are on the home page which contains only the post blurbs, you can also click on the blurb tag line that says “Read the rest of this entry”
2. To read the comments associated with a post If you are on the home page which contains only the post blurbs, click on the “Comments” link following the post or the blurb. If you are in the section of the blog where you are reading the entire post, simply scroll down the page to read the comments and/or to enter one of your own.
3. To enter a comment If you are on the home page which contains only the post blurbs, click on the “Comments” link following the post or the blurb. If there are no comments you will go directly to the comment input area. If there are existing comments you will need to scroll down. If you are already on the page that has the entire post, simply scroll down to the comment text entry area (titled “Leave a Reply”)
4. To read all of the posts by a specific author If you are on the home page which contains only the post blurbs, you can click on the link “Posted in (author name)” that follows each blurb. Or you can scroll down (or up if necessary) to look for the sub-heading title “Posts By Author” and click on the author’s name. The sub-headings are closer to the top of the page in the left column. Note these appear as blurbs so you have to click on the title to read the entire post.
Overview
The layout of this blog is based on three columns. The left and right columns are only used for navigation to various pages within the blog, and in a few cases to pages outside the blog. In general, the navigation is the same on the left and the right. The left is closer to the top of the page and the right is closer to the bottom. The center column is where the posts are printed and after each post there are various navigation options that relate either to the specific post or to posts by that author.
Center Column
The center column of the home page consists of an introduction statement and the titles and opening blurbs from the most recent 11 posts. If you want to read more of any post you can either click on the post title or use the link “Read the rest of this entry” that appears at the very end of the blurb.
Below each blurb is a line that says Posted in (author’s name). If you want to read all of the articles posted by that author click on the name. A page will appear that contains short blurbs from all posts by that author. To read the rest of the post, click on the post title which is in bold face above the blurb. Note that the line “Read the rest of this entry” does NOT appear at the end of the blurb when you are in this section of the blog. You must click on the title to read it all.
Also on that line below the blurb is a link that either says “No Comments” or “(some number of) comments”. If the link says, for example, 2 comments you can click on the link to read those comments. You will be taken directly to the first comment associated with the post.
When the comments page appears you will see the first comment. If you scroll up that page you can read the whole article. If you scroll down the page you can read more comments. At the bottom of the page you can enter your own comment. If the link says “No Comments” and you click on it you will go directly to the section where you can enter your own comment.
Left Column
The left column contains links to various pages both within and outside of the blog. At the top of the left column, in red, the first link will take you to the blog home page. There are a few links below this in red that are links to various other ILF online sites.
Below those links are common blog sub-headings.
Pages sub-heading
These are links to pages about the blog or to bios of the ILF Fellows who contribute regularly to this blog.
Archives sub-heading
Every article, when it is posted, is also added to the Archives based on the month in which it was posted. Under the sub-heading “Archives” you can click on the link to any month and read all the posts from that month.
Posts by Author sub-heading
Every article, when it is posted, is also added to the list of articles posted by each individual author. Under the sub-heading “Posts by Author”, you can click on the link to any author and read all the posts from that month. If you want to read all of the articles posted by that author click on the name. A page will appear that contains short blurbs from all posts by that author. To read the rest of the post click on the post title which is in bold face above the blurb. Note that the line “Read the rest of this entry” does NOT appear at the end of the blurb when you are in this section of the blog. Also note that when you are reading an entire post any comments associated with it will also display. Note too that you can simply scroll down the page to enter a comment.
Author Sites sub-heading
Some the ILF Fellows who contribute regularly to this blog, maintain their own web sites. Clicking on any link under this sub-heading will take you to the personal site of the person.
Blogroll sub-heading
This lists links to various other blogs.
Other Links sub-heading
Lists links to various other sites of groups that help enable the ILF conference, the Digest and this blog.
Right Column
The right column is similar to the left column in that it is used for links to various items. At the top of the right column are photos of the contributing ILF Fellows. Clicking on the name below a photo will take you to the same Bio as clicking on the author name in the sub-heading “Pages”.
All of the sub-headings listed above in the left hand column are also available on the right hand side below the photos of the contributing ILF Fellows.
In addition, at the bottom of the right column there is a “Search” option. You can enter a word or phrase into the box, click on the Search button right below and a page will appear that contains the title and blurb from all posts that contain that word or phrase. To view the entire post, simply click on the title.
